Kayak and a Massage

Monday morning after fueling the bodies up the Fab4 met their guide Felipe for a river kayak tour. After they took a short bumpy ride with Felipe up and down some very windy roads the group ended up at the destination, Boca Nosara. The boca is where the mouth of the river meets the ocean (boca means mouth in Spanish). The Fab4 picked their tandem kayak partners and were soon on the river for a great workout and wildlife viewing.

DadD and Fairy1 were together and MomT and Fairy2 were the other team.

According to Felipe the tide and conditions were ideal, the water was very calm.

MomT made the mistake of asking if they would see any river crocs. The thought of crocs had not crossed Fairy2's mind but once the question was asked she was a little focused on letting MomT know she really didn't want to see one. Felipe explained it was rare to have a sighting. Apparently the crocs have been over hunted and there aren't many left. The ones that are still around are very cautious.

MomT and DadD were impressed with Fairy1's knowledge of birds they had seen 2 years ago on a similar tour on Sanibel Island. Trap door memory. Felipe has studied the flora and fauna of Costa Rica extensively and appreciated the knowledge he gained from Fairy1. They were like two little scientists sharing their facts. Fairy1 wanted to know when they were going to eat the watermelon Felipe brought.

The fairies loved going close to the mangrove roots and ducking under the roots that they squeezed under. Felipe seemed to notice every creature and pointed them out to the group.

Amazingly enough they got to see a baby croc. Fairy2 was overjoyed...well it was a baby and it was really cute!

When they returned from their adventure Felipe handed out the watermelon and the sore shouldered group headed back to get some lunch.

The next stop was the Harmony Spa:)
